Kimm Long Score (7 hours on day 1 and 6 hours on day 2)

After day 1 we were lying in 33rd place, scoring 410 points minus 78 for being 38mins and a bit late.
We picked up on day 2 and were joint 9th with 360 points finishing with over 13mins to spare.

Overall we finished in 19th place with 692 points

With John C still crocked, Chris Upson foolishly agreed to partner me on the long score (John's category choice). We got all excited at the start in our first score event and second ever MM, ending up still in the bog after 7 hours with a long way to go. But after a long nights rest, with an extra hour in bed, and three course breakfast, we had a much better day two.
I have lots to learn about navigation and pacing.

Screes

The Screes fell race - 5.3miles / 500mtrs
(CFR champs race)

16th place - 50mins 44secs

Squelchy muddy boggy.
The best bit was the famed 'Tatie Pot' in the Screes Inn at the finish.
Replete with lashings of black pudding and no veggie option. Oh yes.
The CFR champs are now all decided, Brian Thompson romped it, I finished up joint 5th with Jackie Winn.

Police XC

Wednesday 19/10/05

Northern Police cross country league - 6miles / nil mtrs
8th place - 37mins 31secs

The most tedious course ever devised saw us running four 1.5m laps around a flat, squelchy field at the Sheepmount, Carlisle.
Andy Beaty, twining about being stiff after the FRA relays, came in 3rd, not far behind the loping ox that is Malcolm Fowler.
I was a distant second counter for Cumbria but have been dubiously crowned Cumbrian Police XC champ as Andy got the vets.

Neil Cockbain had to hold back a bit on the climb of High Street cos of weary Ward.
Got to the first CP slower than on a reccy a few weeks back, but I perked up a bit on the top thanks to Mr G.G.Gel.
The reccy paid off though, we eventually passed seven teams, the last being J.Mykura and A.Mudge for two and a half minutes.
Yes, I know that means Carnethy had blokes on the last leg and Jill and Angela didn't know where they were, but !!!
Let's hope someone takes over the helm and carries on this superb and very well organised event.
