Crummock Water circuit / Mellbreak - ? miles / 765m

RHB (section 34B) - Mellbreak 512mtrs

Nice training run around Crummock Water from Buttermere.
Started down Rannerdale, around the fish ladders then up Mellbreak through Raven's Crag.
Very nice ascent on all types of ground and a cracking view down the lakes to Fleetwith Pike.
That was before the gale force winds and rain came in just as I was coming off the summit.

On a completely unrelated note I gave a pint of O positive about 4 hours afterwards and nearly fainted.
I pulled a complete whitey and had to lie down for 45 minutes before I could even stand.
Couldn't even face the tea and biscuits.
Still feel pathetic today, maybe the miles have caught up with me and I need some rest, or maybe I shouldn't have given blood.

Recovery !!! run up Kirk Fell from Wasdale
? miles / 770m

RHB (section 34B) - Kirk Fell 802mtrs

To appease our spectator, Mike and I relented and we trooped up Kirk Fell after the Scafell Pike race.
Not such a good idea, especially when it came to getting back down again.
The Jennings at the 3 Shires were very well deserved.

Part of the Borrowdale Shepherd's meet.
Stayed on to watch the wrestling, hound trailing and tug of war, which the Blands and Scoffer won.

Was 8th to the summit, just behind Chris U, but the old lags from CFR got me going down. Maybe I'll be able to descend like that in another 20 years.
A tip for next year and for Borrowdale is to descend the valley by the beck north of the mine workings, rather than struggling down the steppy slate. Andy and Rob reckon there's a trod back over to the bottom of the slate, needs a reccy that.

Spoke to Don Naylor, Commonwealth games 5000m and SC finalist, before the race. Says he's had enough of track running and had tried a solo Bob Graham the day before, just for fun. Didn't get round, mind. Nuttter.

Part of the Loweswater & Brackenthwaite Agricultural Show
The trek out in the rain was worth it for the prize money (yippee) and shiny yellow rosette.
I wasn't far behind Nim at the top but descretion for Three Shires on Saturday held me back on the descent.
And the fact it was proper steep and slippy as hell.
